Keywords: Narrative text, Reading comprehension, Story mapping strategy English is essential and has been taught in Indonesia from junior high school to the university level. In learning English, reading is one of the four English language skills that senior high school student must master since it is to comprehend the content of the text which is the process in which data from the text and reader knowledge work together to create a meaning that the readers might understand. Narrative text is one of the curriculum genre types whose basic competency is to enable students to retell a story based on the given material or text. Therefore, based on observations that the writer has made about the eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Grabag, it was found that there is a problem with students' reading comprehension on narrative text, especially in class XI 7, based on the results of interviews with teachers. This study is intended to determine whether the use of the story mapping strategy can increase the reading motivation of the eleventh graders of SMAN 2 Grabag and to determine the increase in narrative text reading comprehension of the eleventh graders of SMAN 2. The writer conducted a classroom action research (CAR). It was divided into Pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. The study subjects were 36 students of the X1 7 class of SMAN 2 Grabag. The writer collected the data using observation, questionnaire, interview, documentation, and tests.
