This research aims to improve students' reading comprehension and motivation by implementing a reading technique known as Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR). CSR is a collaborative technique combining reading strategies with group activities that help students decode, understand, and retain information from the text they read. Additionally, the researcher examined whether there was a significant improvement in students' reading scores and learning motivation before and after implementing the CSR technique. This research was conducted in January 2024 in class X-I of MAN Temanggung. The research was conducted using the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, and the sample consisted of 37 students from class X-I. Before implementing the treatment, students were given a pre-cycle test. At the end of each cycle, they were given the cycle 1 test and cycle 2 test. The data was analyzed by comparing the results of the pre-cycle test with the cycle 1 test and cycle 2 test to determine if their scores had improved. On the findings and discussion, the mean score of reading comprehension in the pre-cycle test was 54.75, while the mean score in the cycle 2 test was 81.75. This represents a 49.27% improvement from the pre-cycle test. Additionally, the data indicates that students' motivation in reading increased to 73.52%, which is 24.06% higher than the scores in the pre-cycle. In conclusion, the implementation of the CSR technique has proven to be effective in enhancing students' reading comprehension and motivation. This technique not only facilitates a better understanding of reading material but also fosters a more engaging and motivated learning environment. Thus, implementing CSR techniques in teaching reading can lead to more successful and enthusiastic readers.
