Keywords: Gaining attention strategy; Pop-Up book; grammar Sentence structure is important for clear and effective communication. However, many Indonesian students, including those at SMP N 1 Kota Mungkid, have difficulty producing sentence structure correctly due to monotonous teaching methods. Learning strategies and media that are not varied make students bored and lose interest in learning. This situation emphasizes the need for more interesting and effective learning strategies to improve students' simple present tense mastery. Therefore, the study was conducted to find out whether there is a significant difference between the use of the gaining attention strategy with pop-up learning media compared to the lecture strategy with PowerPoint media on students' simple present tense mastery, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of the gaining attention strategy with pop-up media in grammar teaching. A quasi-experimental research design with a quantitative method was applied in this study. This research used a purposive sampling technique by selecting the classes that had low grammar skills. The classes chosen were class VII A as the experimental group and class VII B as the control group at SMP Negeri 1 Kota Mungkid in the 2023/2024 academic year. This selection was based on a recap of scores from continuous assessments, including quizzes, assignments, and daily tests, which showed students' low average scores in English subjects. Instruments for this study used a true-false test of 20 items to collect the data. After the data was obtained, the data was analyzed using the SPSS version 22 program.
