SKRIPSI THE EFFECTIVENESS OF 3H (HERE, HIDDEN, AND IN MY HEAD) STRATEGY TO TEACH READING COMPREHENSION OF DESCRIPTIVE TEXT IN THE SEVENTH GRADERS OF SMP N 1 KOTA MUNGKID

Keywords: Reading Comprehension, 3H (Here, Hidden, and in my Head), Learning Strategy, Descriptive TextReading is one of the basic skills in English that can help students understand the material. Students sometimes need help to read English texts because they need more vocabulary. This difficulty makes them need help answering questions or reading comprehension tests. Therefore, the writer conducted the research using the 3H (Here, Hidden, and in my Head) strategy to overcome the problem.This research has two objectives. The first is to determine whether students who use the 3H (Here, Hidden, and In My Head) strategy and students who do not differ statistically significantly in their reading comprehension achievement on descriptive texts. The second is to elaborate on the effectiveness of the 3H (Here, Hidden, and in my Head) strategy on students' understanding of descriptive text reading.This research used a quasi-experimental research design. Two groups were conducted: the experimental group (7E) and the control group (7F) at SMPN 1 Kota Mungkid. The researcher collected data using reading comprehension tests, which were analyzed using SPSS 26.Based on the results and discussion, it can be seen that the average post-test scores in both groups are significantly different because, for the experimental group, the average score is 90.63. For the control group, it is 84.06. The independent sample t-test was used to determine whether there was a significant difference between the two teaching instructions. The experimental group used the 3H (Here, Hidden, and in my Head) strategy, and the control group was taught using the conventional method. The significant result of 0.002, which is less than 0.05, and the tobserve of 3.305 are more than the ttable is 1.999, indicating that there is any significant difference in the post-test scores between the two groups. The 3H (Here, Hidden, and in my Head) strategy effectively teaches reading comprehension in the descriptive text because there was a significant difference between the average pretest and post-test in the experimental group; the average for pre-test is 74.63, and for post-test is 90,63. The paired sample t-test was used to determine how is the effectiveness of 3H (Here, Hidden, and in my Head) strategy, and the resukt shows that the significance value is 0.000, which means that the value is less than 0.05, ttable is 2040, is then compared to the tobserve of 9.496 it is indicated that the effectiveness of the 3H (Here, Hidden, and in my Head) strategy
