Keywords: Factile, Jeopardy Game, Reading Skills, Recount Text Reading English skill is an important skill for students to get, learn, and interpret new information and concepts in learning English. Therefore, students should have a good comprehension of the text they read. However, the high school students often face many challenges that make them have low reading scores. There are several ways that can be used to improve students’ reading skills such as the use of game as the learning media. Thus, a study was needed to examine the effectiveness of using Jeopardy game with Factile that can improve students’ reading skills in recount text. The aims of this study are: 1) to examine the differences on the recount text reading skills before and after the use of Jeopardy game with Factile of the eighth graders of SMPN 10 Magelang, 2) to examine the effectiveness of using Jeopardy game with Factile on the students’ recount text reading skill of the eighth graders of SMPN 10 Magelang. The research method that used in this study is quasi experimental with one group pre-test post-test design. The population of this study is 210 of the eighth graders of SMPN 10 Magelang. Meanwhile, the samples of this research are 30 students of the eighth grade of SMPN 10 Magelang. The data was collected from the pre-test and post-test scores before and after the use of Jeopardy game with Factile. Based on the findings of the research the use of Jeopardy game with Factile could help students to learn and improve their recount text reading skills. Before the treatments using Factile, the average score of the pre-test was 68.4667. Meanwhile, the average score of the post-test was increased became 84.1333 which is greater than the standard of minimum completeness. It was also supported by the t-test outcome that the sig (2-tailed) 0.00 was lower than the significance value 0.05. It means that there was difference between the pre-test score before the treatments and the post-test score after the treatments using Factile. Furthermore, the use of Jeopardy game with Factile was effective to improve students’ recount text reading skills. It was showed from the results of the comparison between the t-count and the t-table. It had been found that the t-count of the t-test 10.016 was greater than the t-table 2.045 at the significance level 0.05 with the df = 29. It means that the use of Jeopardy game with Factile is effective to improve recount text reading skills of the eighth graders of SMPN 10 Magelang.
