Keywords: Quizalize, Teaching Reading, Eighth-Grade Students. Reading is a crucial educational skill since it measures students' overall language proficiency. According to the researcher’s observations, students at SMP N 9 Magelang still have difficulties in reading some texts because they lack motivation and teacher’s creativities in using technology as learning media. The writer used Quizalize to help students in reading because reading can develop students’ minds, knowledge, and improve communication skills. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Quiz alize to teach reading especially in the eighth-grade students of SMP N 9 Magelang, focused on recount text. The research method that used in this study is quantitative method with quasiexperimental that implemented a pre-test and post-test nonequivalent group design. The population in this study are the eighth-grade students of SMP N 9 Magelang, and the sample are the students of class VIII D and VIII E, with the total sample consisting of 62 students. The data collection technique that used in this study were pre-test and post-test. This study analyzed the data used SPSS Statistics 22. The results of this study indicated that the mean score of the post-test in the experimental class is higher (88.71) than the mean score of the post-test in the control class (80.81). The results in this study were also supported by independent sample t-test that showed the t-count is greater than t-table 2.840 > 2.000. This means that the use of Quizalize is effective in teaching reading to the eighth-grade students of SMP N 9 Magelang in the academic year 2023/2024. According to the research results, it can be concluded that the use of Quizalize has significant effect in teaching reading to the eighth-grade students of SMP N 9 Magelang. As a suggestion, teachers can apply Quizalize as learning media in teaching reading. Thus, students can improve their reading. In addition, the writer believes that future researchers can use this research as a reference to conduct additional research on related topics. In addition, other researchers can conduct more research by considering the limitations of this study.
