Keywords: effectiveness, group investigation strategy, reading skill Reading is an important skill that must be mastered by students. All information and knowledge insights will be obtained through reading. But there are still many obstacles faced in reading skills. Teachers must have the right way to hone students' reading skills. A group investigation strategy can help students improve their reading skills. The purpose of this study is to determine the significant difference in the improvement of reading skills of narrative text taught using a group investigation strategy in senior high school students. This study uses a random sample technique with a true experimental design. The sample of this study was 72 students of students at SMA N 1 Salaman. The experimental class was taught using a group investigation strategy while the control class used a prediction strategy. The data collection gained from the test. The SPSS 25 was used to examine the data. After analyzing the data, the t-test result is greater than the t-table (3.635> 1.994). This indicates a significant difference in reading skills between the experimental and control classes. A comparison of the average post-test scores shows that the experimental class has a higher reading skill score, with an average score of 79.72 a pre-test score of 64.31 an N-Gain score of 0.41 which falls into the medium effectiveness category. Comparison with the control class which got an average score on the post-test of 72.08 with a pre-test score of 64.03 with an NGain score of 0.21 which fell into the low effectiveness category. Therefore Ha1 states "The use of the group investigation strategy is effective to improve students' reading skills on narrative text in High School Education" accepted, and Ha2 mentions “There is a difference of the students’ narrative reading skills who were taught using group investigation strategy and prediction strategy” is accepted.
