Keywords: Group Investigation, Baamboozle, Recount Text, Team Games Tournsment, Speaking Skills Students' speaking skills in English learning are often still low. Conventional approaches are often less able to stimulate students' interest. Therefore, innovative strategies are needed to improve students' speaking skills. The objective of this study is to determine the significance of the difference in the use of group investigations for students taught with Baamboozle and students taught with team games tournament towards improving speaking skills in the learning process. Then, to know the effectiveness of using Baamboozle to facilitate group investigation in recount text to improve speaking skills of ninth-grade. The method used is a quasi-experiment with a pre-test and post-test design. The subjects of the study consisted of 64 ninth-grade students at SMP N 4 Magelang, who were divided into two groups: the experimental group (9C, 32 students) who used the Group Investigation strategy using Baamboozle and the control group (9D, 32 students) who followed the Team Games Tournament strategy with Puzzle. Data were collected through speaking tests on pre-test and post-test and analyzed using SPSS 22. The results of the analysis showed a significant increase in students' speaking skills as evidenced by the results of the independent sample t-test Sig. (2 tailed) of 0.000 where
