ABSTRACT
Ariyani, Budi. 2024. “The Effectiveness of Using Station Rotation Learning Model on the Vocabulary Mastery of the Tenth Graders at MAN Temanggung”. An Undergraduate Thesis. English Department, Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, Universitas Tidar. Advisor I Taufik Arochman, M.Pd., Advisor II Dr. Umi Rachmawati, M.Pd. Keywords: Station Rotation, Vocabulary, Learning Model Mastering vocabulary in English education impacts various aspects and students' understanding of the material and the effectiveness of learning. Based on the interview of an English teacher at MAN Temanggung, vocabulary is an aspect that is still poorly mastered by students. Some contributing factors are lack of student motivation, use of translation tools, limited reading sources, less diverse media, and monotonous learning models teachers use. Therefore, this study expected to use Station Rotation learning model in students' vocabulary mastery. This study aims to find the significant difference between the experimental group which uses the station rotation learning model and the control group which uses the conventional learning model (PPP) on the vocabulary mastery. In addition, this study also identifies students' perceptions of the use of the Station Rotation model in their learning in class. This research applied a quasi-experimental design so it did not use randomization. The population used is tenth graders at MAN Temanggung. The sample used was class X-J as the experimental group and X-I as the control group by implementing purposive sampling. Data were collected using the pre-test and post test then analyzed by applying normality test, homogeneity test and independent sample t-test. Based on the results obtained from the data analysis, it shows the effectiveness of the Station Rotation model in vocabulary mastery. The results of the Independent Sample T-Test show a significance value (sig. 2-tailed) of 0.035 which is smaller than 0.05. This means that Ha is accepted, so there is a significant difference between students taught using Station Rotation and students taught using the PPP model. In addition, the results of the questionnaire on the use of the Station Rotation model show a high percentage of student responses. There are six statements included in the positive category and 9 statements included in the very positive category. In conclusion, Station Rotation is one of the effective learning models to improve students' abilities, especially vocabulary. In addition, this model is also interesting and fun to apply in class. Then, the researcher suggested for the researcher in the future to use the Station Rotation model to be applied in other English skills and aspects.
