SKRIPSI PRESUPPOSITION ANALYSIS ON AUDIO LISTENING AS TEACHING MATERIAL IN INTENSIVE LISTENING CLASS

Keywords: Presupposition, Audio Listening, Intensive Listening This study focused on the use of the type of presupposition which used on students' audio listening as teaching material in intensive listening class. The objectives of the study were 1) to describe the type of presupposition which used on students' audio listening as teaching material in intensive listening class, and 2) to explain the type of presupposition which dominantly used on students' audio listening as teaching material in intensive listening class. Descriptive qualitative was used as the type of this study. The data were taken from the students' audio listening as teaching material in intensive listening class. This study aimed to describe the type of presupposition and the most dominant type used on the students' audio listening as teaching material in intensive listening class. The study revealed two findings. First, there are four types of presuppositions found in the students’ audio listening as teaching material in intensive listening class based on Yule’s theory. They were existential presupposition, factive presupposition, structural presupposition, and counterfactual presupposition. The Existential Presupposition was found in 62 data with the percentage was 66%. Then, the factive presupposition was found in 5 data with the percentage was 5%. Next, the structural presupposition was found in 19 data with the percentage was 20%. Furthermore, the counterfactual presupposition was found in 8 data with the percentage was 9%. The second conclusion is related to the dominant type of presupposition that appear. The type of presupposition that appears frequently is existential presupposition, which found in 62 data from 94 data, with the percentage was 66%. In addition, the least common type is factive presupposition, which found in 5 data from 94 data, with the percentage was 5%.
