This study focuses on descriptive text because applying this strategy can encourage students to imagine creatively and make sentences into good and correct descriptive texts. Most students in Indonesia still need help making sentences into text because many students do not develop their ideas when they start writing. Meanwhile, in this school, Students are not interested in writing due to various circumstances, lack of practice when writing, teachers providing a monotonous learning process and a lack of strategies applied in teaching. This means that students need something different, which increases their enthusiasm for learning English. As prospective teachers, the writer need to know the right learning strategy so students can write quickly. Outdoor learning strategy involve studying material directly on natural objects so that students can describe it more clearly than students learning in the classroom. This study wants to determine whether there is a significant difference in descriptive text writing skills between students taught with outdoor learning strategy and indoor learning strategy in class X students of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Alternatif Magelang. This study employed a quasi-experimental using a pre-test-post-test control group design. It was conducted in two classes, the experimental class and the control class. The population was taken from students of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Alternatif Magelang, totaling 123 students. The sample was taken from two classes in a higher class, and each class was selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data was collected by writing descriptive text titled "My School." Then, the writer checked the data using SPSS V22. The results showed a difference in the average score of students between the two classes. The average score for the experimental class was 80.4, while the average score for the control class was 74.7. The results of the t-test showed that there was a significant difference between the two groups. The t-value of the t-test was higher than the t-table (2.768 > 2.000). Also, the result N-Gain score in experimental class' is 0.3864
