SKRIPSI USING CAKE APPLICATION TO IMPROVE SPEAKING SKILL IN DESCRIPTIVE TEXT OF NINTH GRADERS

Keyword: Cake Application, English Language Teaching, Speaking Skill, Descriptive TextThere are four aspects of English learning, namely, listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In language learning, speaking is the most important aspect because speaking is one of the four language skills that students really need to master for communication. Speaking is recognized as a key ability for conveying ideas or expressing thoughts. It is important that English teachers either focus on speaking in the classroom or use speaking exercises in all topics to help students improve their skills.This research was classroom action research. Cake Application were applied to improve the students’ speaking skill in learning descriptive text. The objectives of this research are to describe the improvement of descriptive text speaking skill and the students’ motivation in learning after the implementation of the Cake Application to the ninth graders of SMPN 2 Mertoyudan.The participants in this study consisted of 30 ninth-grade students from SMPN 2 Mertoyudan, with permission from the school. The writer uses test and non-test to collect data. The test is about writing skill tests while the non-test is observation, questionnaire, and documentation. The study was conducted in three phases: Pre-Cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. It was conducted in four steps, namely planning, acting, observing, and reflecting.
