SISTEM PEMANTAUAN LOKASI PENDAKI GUNUNG MENGGUNAKAN GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM (GPS) DAN LONG RANGE (LORA)
Mountain climbing often involves unpredictable risks that can result in climbers
getting lost, especially due to limited access to internet signals in mountainous
areas, which makes it difficult for climbers to determine their location. This
research aims to monitor climbers' locations using Global Positioning System
(GPS) and Long-Range (LoRa) technology. The device operates by sending
climbers' coordinates via LoRa, which are then displayed on a website. A LoRa
mesh topology is used as a repeater to extend the range of the LoRa signal. Testing
results show that the transmitter device can last for up to 9 hours with a 8400 mAh
battery. The UBLOX NEO 7M GPS performs well in reading coordinates up to the
summit of Mount Tidar and Mount Andong. In data transmission tests, LoRa was
able to transmit data at a non-line-of-sight distance of 463 meters on Mount Tidar,
with a total of 96 data packets and 73 received data packets, of which 60 were
successfully sent to the server. On Mount Andong, LoRa transmission reached 944
meters with the help of a repeater under foggy conditions.
