Speaking is one of the four basic skills of English. Learners must be able to speak when performing in front of an audience. The emphasis on communication in English in speaking makes it difficult for them to apply this skill to their daily lives, especially for EFL learners. Some students can easily understand the message conveyed in English in a conversation but need help to respond in English. Unfortunately, some students need to practice speaking during their education and learning process, which influences their fear of making mistakes when asked to speak in English. This also happens with high school students. Using attractive teaching and learning media helps students overcome speaking problems. The writer is interested in investigating students' perceptions towards using the Hilokal application to improve their speaking skills. The subjects of this study were 18 ECC members of MAN Kota Magelang. A descriptive and qualitative approach was used, using observation, questionnaire, interview, and documentation as data collection techniques. The writer distributed a 10-question questionnaire to 18 respondents and interviewed 5 respondents. The data results were then analyzed based on the theory of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana (2014) and verified using the data validation of Norman (2007). The study showed that the respondents positively evaluated the use of the Hilocal application as a learning medium for speaking classes at ECC, MAN Kota Magelang. Most of them recognized the benefits of learning speaking skills via Hilocal applications. The introduction of the Hilocal application as a learning medium for learning speaking was especially helpful for students. However, there are still some areas for improvement, such as the need for an internet connection when accessing the Hilocal application and the slow feedback from teachers.
