Writing is one of the four components of language proficiency and is crucial to daily living in both academic and non-academic domains. Many academic assessments, such as essays, research papers, and exams, also require students to demonstrate
their understanding of a subject through writing. Mastery of English writing allows students to articulate their knowledge effectively, leading to improved performance in these assessments. Learning media like Wordvice AI can support students in improving their writing skill, helping them express their ideas more clearly and confidently. In this research, Wordvice AI was applied to improve students' writing skill. This research aims to find empirical evidence on whether Wordvice AI can improve recount text writing skill for eighth graders students at SMPN 9Magelang and to describe the improvement in recount text writing skill. This study was action research. The participants in this study consisted of 32 eighthgrade students from SMP N 9 Magelang, and the writer also collaborated with the class VIII English teachers. The writer used test and non test instruments to collect data. The test is about writing skill tests, while the non-test is observation to find the data about the students' activities during the learning process, a questionnaire to identify the students' problems with writing skills and to measure the improvement in their writing skills using Wordvice AI, and documentation to support additional instruments. The findings of the study indicate that the use of Wordvice AI can significantly improve the writing skill of recount text of eighth-grade students. The result of the study indicated that the scores were 62.21 in the Pre-Cycle, 71.21 in Cycle I, and 83.21 in Cycle II. Based on these scores, it can be concluded that there was an increase of 21 points from Pre-Cycle to Cycle II. This means that the use of Wordvice AI improve students' writing scores in some aspects such as Organization, Content, Grammar, Punctuation and Mechanics, and Style. After being taught using Wordvice AI, students significantly improved their writing skill in recount text.
