SKRPSI IMPLEMENTING GROUP DISCUSSION OF COMMUNITY LANGUAGE LEARNING TO FOSTER CRITICAL THINKING OF STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILL AT SMP NEGERI 1 MAGELANG
Students could struggle with speaking English because of both internal and
external factors. Internal factors include a lack of confidence and difficulty in using
grammar, while external factors relate to how teacher teach and how active students
in class. Effective speaking requires not only linguistic competence but also critical
thinking skills to express ideas clearly and logically.
This study aims to use group discussion of Community Language Learning
to foster critical thinking of students' speaking skill. The research looks at how
much CLL can help students speak better and think more critically. The research
used Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a population of 32 students in eighth
grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Magelang. It was carried out in three phases: Pre
Cycle, Cycle 1, and Cycle 2. Data was collected through a critical thinking in
speaking test, observation, questionnaire, and documentation. Each cycle involved
planning, action, observation, and reflection to track students’ progress.
