SKRIPSI CAPTURING SELF-REGULATED LEARNING STRATEGIES USED BY KAMPUS MENGAJAR STUDENTS IN ENGLISH EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
Kampus Mengajar students in the English Education Department face challenges in catching up on theoretical materials due to credit conversion. As part of the program, these students are required to teach in schools, engaging in activities ranging from delivering lessons to supporting extracurricular programs. As a result, they are considered passing the course without going through the actual learning process. This study explores the Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) strategies they employ to independently study the Theories and Principles in TEFL course. Using Zimmerman’s SRL framework, this study explores what and how they use SRL strategies in their learning process. This study was conducted during their participation in Kampus Mengajar batch 8. Using a qualitative case study approach with a narrative research design, data were collected from five participants, with documentation serving as the primary instrument and semi-structured interviews as the secondary instrument. The documentation consisted of learning artifacts, including study notes and materials that reflect the SRL process. The interviews provided deeper insights into how students applied these strategies. Then, from all of those data collected; documentation and interviews, the writer narrated the stories into a research. From the data collected, students applied various SRL strategies in their learning process. Based on Barry J. Zimmerman’s SRL model, they utilized six SRL strategies: Seeking Information, Seeking Social Assistance, Organizing and Transforming Information, Self-Evaluation, Self-Consequence, and Rehearsing and Memorizing. These strategies were implemented through different methods, including accessing online resources, relying on peer discussions, using memorization and repetition techniques, and employing self-reward systems to maintain motivation. The findings highlight that SRL strategies played a crucial role in helping Kampus Mengajar Batch 8 students manage their independent learning process.
