SKRIPSI THE EFFECTIVENESS OF GALLERY WALK STRATEGY USING POSTER TO IMPROVE ANNOUNCEMENT TEXT WRITING SKILL OF 8TH GRADERS AT MTsN 1 KOTA MAGELANG YEAR 2024/2025
Writing is a very important language skill to be mastered by students at all levels of education. However, in this research, the pre-research indicates there were many obstacles in learning writing skill because many students did not understand how to write correctly. This was exacerbated of learning strategies. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the gallery walk strategy using poster is more effective in improving students' writing skill than the use of the poster presentation strategy, and to find out the significant difference of writing skill between students who were taught using the gallery walk strategy with posters and those who were taught using the poster presentation strategy. This study used a quasi-experimental research design with a purposive sampling technique. The sample of this study consisted of 42 students who were divided into two classes, namely class 8B as the experimental group consisted of 20 students, and class 8A as the control group consisted of 22 students. The experimental group was taught using the gallery walk strategy with posters, and the control group was taught using the poster presentation strategy. Pre-test and posttest data were analyzed using a t-test. After data analysis, the hypothesis in this study Sig. (2-tailed) is smaller than the specified significance level of 0.05 (0.038 < 0.05). The results of this calculation mean that alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. That said, there was a significant difference in writing skill between students who were taught using the gallery walk strategy with posters. Furthermore, the N-Gain score of the experimental class was 73,47% which means this strategy is effective to improve students writing skill.
