SKRIPSI THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PORPE STRATEGY IN TEACHING LISTENING TO THE SECOND SEMESTER STUDENTS IN INTENSIVE LISTENING CLASS
Listening is one of the skills that should mastered by students in learning a language. However, in reality, many students in Intensive Listening class still have difficulty in the listening process. It is caused by the lack of implementation of the right learning strategy. This research focused on the use of the PORPE strategy in teaching students’ listening skill. This study aims to (1) show the significant difference after implementing the PORPE strategy and (2) find out the effectiveness of the PORPE strategy in teaching listening to the second-semester students in the Intensive Listening class. This quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design was implemented. This study was conducted in the second-semester Intensive Listening class of the English Department at Universitas Tidar. A purposive sampling technique was used to choose the sample. The number of samples was 24 (experimental class) and 26 (control class). This research data collection used tests. Then, IBM SPSS 27 Statistics was used to analyze the data. Furthermore, the result showed a significant difference between the students who used the PORPE and the note-taking strategy, with the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.040 (
