SKRIPSI THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THINK-PAIR-SHARE TECHNIQUE WITH PICTURE MEDIA TO ENHANCE WRITING SKILL IN RECOUNT TEXT FOR THE 8th GRADE STUDENTS AT SMPN 12 MAGELANG IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2024/2025
The use of appropriate techniques in writing instruction is important because it can improve the quality students’ writing. One technique that has the potential to improve students’ writing skills is the Think Pair Share (TPS) Technique combined with picture media. The purpose of this research is to analyze the effectiveness of the TPS technique with picture media in improving students’ writing skills in recount texts. The study was conducted at SMPN 12 Magelang, involving 56 students selected through purposive sampling. This study used a quasi-experimental design, involving two classes: the experimental group and the control group. Class VIIIC was designated as the experimental group, while Class VIIID served as the control class group in this study. The study was conducted in four sessions, consisting of a pre-test, two treatment sessions, and a post-test. The two treatment sessions were administered to each group using different teaching techniques. The experimental group was taught using the TPS technique with visual media, while the control group was taught using the TPS technique with textbook media. Based on the analyzed data using SPSS 25, the significance value (Sig. 2 tailed) was 0.016, which meant it was smaller than 0.05. Therefore HO was rejected and HA was accepted. The result showed a significant improvement in the writing ability of the experimental group compared to the control group. Thus, the use of picture media in the Think Pair Share technique helps students develop ideas, understand grammar, and write narrative texts more effectively. Additionally, picture media makes students more interested in writing. Therefore, the TPS technique with picture media can be considered an effective technique for improving students' writing skills, especially in recount texts
