SKRIPSI THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TRELLO APPLICATION TO INCREASE THE ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION TEXT WRITING SKILL OF THE ELEVENTH GRADERS AT SMK N 2 MAGELANG
Writing skill is essential in learning English, especially for analytical exposition texts. However, many students experience difficulties in writing, one of which is due to the lack of interactive media. Integrating technology such as Trello into the classroom can be an effective solution. Trello offers a visually organized and collaborative platform that enhances student learning through boards, lists, and cards. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of Trello in improving students' writing skills. Trello helped students plan, draft, and revise their writing more effectively within an organized structure, which can enhance their engagement and participation. It also made the writing process more enjoyable for students. This study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design. There were 60 students from grade XI of SMKN 2 Magelang, divided into two groups using purposive sampling: grade XI PPLG 1 was the experimental group and was given treatment by using Trello, and XI PPLG 2 was the control group and was given treatment by using Padlet. Pre- and post-tests were conducted to measure students' writing skills. The results of the Independent Samples T-test showed a significant difference between the two groups (Sig. = 0.001). Students in the experimental group demonstrate better performance in writing analytical exposition text. The experimental group's N-gain score (0.3521) is also higher than the control group's (0.1540), indicating a greater improvement. In conclusion, although both platforms support writing development, Trello was proven to be more effective. Its interactive and organized features are likely to lead to greater engagement and better results. Teacher is advised to integrate Trello into writing instruction to improve students' writing performance. Further studies could explore the effectiveness of Trello on different types of texts.
