SKRIPSI CONTENT ANALYSIS OF SPEAKING SKILL MATERIAL IN “ENGLISH FOR NUSANTARA†TEXTBOOK KURIKULUM MERDEKA EDITION FOR THE NINTH GRADERS
This thesis used a content analysis research method to evaluate the quality of speaking materials in the English textbook "English for Nusantara" for ninthgraders in junior high school. Krippendorff (2018) emphasizes that content analysis is a research technique used to make replicable and valid inferences from texts or other meaningful content to the context of their use. This method was chosen because it allows the author to analyze the quality of speaking materials in English textbooks, particularly within the context of the Independent Curriculum. This study relies on documentation techniques as a data collection method. The research results and discussion demonstrate the quality of speaking materials in the "English for Nusantara" textbook for ninth-graders in junior high school. Content analysis reveals that this textbook contains speaking materials that require critical thingking among students. Within the Pancasila Student Profile, critical thingking was the most frequently encountered dimension, accounting for 31%. Overall, the quality of speaking materials in the textbook reached 97.5% based on criteria of good speaking materials from Scott in Chaqiqi (2017), which is categorized as "Good" based on the standards of the Pusat Perbukuan. These findings, obtained through a content analysis approach, provide valuable insights for curriculum developers, teachers, and educators as they strive to improve English language learning for ninth-grade students. By considering the identified strengths and weaknesses of the speaking materials, stakeholders can collaborate to refine and create more engaging and effective learning experiences aligned with the Merdeka curriculum.
