SKRIPSI DEVELOPING GRAMMAR TEACHING MATERIALS USING SIMPLE EDUCATION GAMES FOR THE TENTH GRADERS AT SMA N 1 BANDONGAN
Grammar is often considered a difficult and less engaging subject by many students, particularly when taught through conventional methods. At SMA N 1 Bandongan, there was no specific grammar book used, and the existing material, Work in Progress, did not explicitly explain grammar concepts. This condition led to students' low motivation and limited understanding of English tenses. This research aimed to develop grammar teaching materials using simple education games for the tenth graders. The study employed the first three stages of the ADDIE model: Analysis, Design, and Development. The needs analysis was conducted through classroom observation, student and teacher questionnaires, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative data used Miles and Huberman's method, and quantitative data used descriptive statistics. The product focused on 16 English tenses and included game-based learning activities such as Puzzle Games, Jumbled Game, Crossword Game, and Snake and Ladders Tenses Game. Each unit consisted of games, dialogues, explanations, exercises, and mini reflections. The product was validated by two English teachers using a checklist-based expert judgment sheet. The results showed that all indicators in four aspects (content, language, presentation, and graphics) were marked as valid. Minor revisions were made based on expert feedback. Based on the validation result, it is concluded that the developed material is valid and feasible to be used as supplementary grammar teaching material. Therefore, it is suggested that teachers apply interactive and game-based resources to improve student engagement, and future researchers are encouraged to test the effectiveness of such materials in classroom implementation.
