SKRIPSI FAKTOR – FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHI MIGRASI INTERNASIONAL PEKERJA MIGRAN INDONESIA: STUDI KASUS DI DELAPAN PROVINSI DENGAN PMI TERBANYAK (2015 – 2024)
ABSTRAK
The phenomenon of overseas labor migration continues to increase, reflecting the complexity of socio-economic dynamics in various regions of Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence international migration decisions by Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in eight provinces with the largest number of PMI during the period 2015 - 2024, namely East Java, Central Java, West Java, West Nusa Tenggara, North Sumatra, Lampung, Bali, and Banten. The dependent variable in this study is the number of PMI, while the independent variables include Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) per capita, Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP), Human Development Index (HDI), Number of Poor People (JPM), and Open Unemployment Rate (TPT). This study uses a quantitative approach with a panel data analysis method and the best model chosen is the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The estimation results show that GRDP per capita and HDI have a positive and significant effect on migration decisions, UMP and TPT have a significant negative effect, while JPM has no effect on migration decisions. These findings indicate that the socio-economic conditions of the area of origin, especially the level of welfare and poverty, play an important role in encouraging international migration. These findings provide an important contribution to the development of employment policies and the protection of migrant workers, while also highlighting the need for equitable development to reduce the pressure of economic migration between regions in Indonesia.
