SKRIPSI STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION ON THE USE OF JOOX IN LEARNING LISTENING AT SMP NEGERI 4 SATU ATAP SALAMAN
Listening is one of the most essential skills in English language learning,
particularly in the era of digital transformation, where learners increasingly engage
with multimedia content. However, many junior high school students still face
difficulties in developing listening comprehension due to lack of exposure to
authentic, engaging materials. The need for alternative, learner-friendly media has
led to the exploration of Joox as a potential supplementary platform for learning
English listening.

This study aims to investigate the perceptions of eighth-grade students at SMP
Negeri 4 Satu Atap Salaman regarding the use of Joox in learning English listening.
The study employed a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected from 22
students using a questionnaire and an observation sheet. The questionnaire was
categorized into three domains: cognitive (belief), affective (emotion), and conative
(behavioral intention). The observation measured students’ engagement and
The findings showed that students hold a generally positive perception of Joox. In
the cognitive domain, most students believed that Joox improved their listening
ability and vocabulary. In the affective domain, they expressed enjoyment,
motivation, and interest during the activity. In the conative domain, students
showed willingness to continue using Joox outside the classroom. Observation data
supported the questionnaire results, with a majority of students showing focus,
active participation, and visible interest in the listening session.
