SKRIPSI DEVELOPING ‘T&T: TALK & TOUR’ SPEAKING E-MODULE AS A LEARNING MEDIA FOR TWC BOROBUDUR FRONTLINERS TO FACILITATE ENGLISH COMMUNICATION
As a world-class tourist destination, PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur,
Prambanan & Ratu Boko (TWC Borobudur) ideally requires its frontline staff to
communicate effectively and confidently in English to provide excellent service
and maintain a professional image. However, the actual condition reveals that the
staff face significant communication challenges, including a lack of confidence,
difficulty in understanding diverse tourist accents, and insufficient contextual
learning materials tailored to their specific job tasks.
This gap between the ideal standard of service communication and the actual
capabilities of the staff highlights the need for a specialized and practical learning
medium. Therefore, this study aimed to address this gap by developing and
assessing the feasibility of a needs-based speaking e-module titled "T&T: Talk &
Tour". The objective was to create a learning tool that is relevant, accessible, and
effective for the frontline staff at TWC Borobudur.
This research employed the Educational Development Research (EDR) model
proposed by Plomp (2013), which consists of three main phases: preliminary
research, prototyping, and assessment. The preliminary phase involved a needs
analysis conducted through questionnaires and interviews with 13 frontline staff
members. The prototyping phase involved designing the e-module using Canva and
Heyzine, which was then validated for its feasibility by material and media experts.
The final assessment phase involved a user evaluation survey distributed to 15
frontline staff to gauge the product’s practicality and acceptance.
