SKRIPSI THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING SCAVENGER HUNT THROUGH PADLET TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ READING SKILLS OF THE EIGHTH GRADERS OF SMP N 11 MAGELANG
Reading is a fundamental skill that students must master. However, based on the writer's observations, most students have limitations in understanding reading, many students feel bored and the inappropriate use of learning methods. In this research, Scavenger Hunt through Padlet is the solution to this problem. This study Investigated the effectiveness of Using Scavenger Hunt through Padlet to Improve Students’ Reading Skills of the Eighth Graders of SMP N 11 Magelang. This research employed a quasi-experimental design, involving two groups: a control class (VIII E with 28 students) taught using a modeled teaching strategy with written instruction and an experimental class (VIII F with 28 students) taught using scavenger hunt through padlet. Data was collected through pre-tests and posttests administered to both groups. The writer used the SPSS 22 version to analyze the data. The statistical hypothesis results of the independent sample t-test that the sig. (2-tailed) of the test was 0.000 which was lower than the determined significance level of 0.05. Therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. It can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the results of achievement in reading descriptive texts between students in the experimental group and the control group. Furthermore, the average N-Gain in the experimental group is 0.45 which is classified as moderate effectiveness. Meanwhile, the control group obtained a low average N-Gain score of 0.24. Based on these findings, it is concluded that the Using Scavenger Hunt through Padlet to Improve Students’ Reading Skills of the Eighth Graders of SMP N 11 Magelang compared to the modeled teaching strategy. The study suggests that teachers consider integrating the scavenger hunt through padlet to enhance students' reading skills
