ABSTRACT
The Effect of Different Carrier Media and Doses of Trichoderma asperellum Isolate on the Growth of Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi Seedlings Muttamima Aufa Milzam1), Sugiyarto2), Tri Suwarni Wahyudiningsih3) Email: muttamimaufamilzam@students.untidar.ac.id Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi is one of Indonesia’s native orchids with high aesthetic value; however, its survival rate during acclimatization remains low. This study aimed to analyze the effect of different carrier media and doses of Trichoderma asperellum isolates on the growth of Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi seedlings during the acclimatization stage. The experiment was conducted using a Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD) with two treatment factors, namely carrier media (corn kernels and whole rice) and Trichoderma asperellum doses (0; 1.25; 2.5; 3.75; and 5 g/plant), each combined and replicated three times. The observed parameters included plant height increment, number of leaves, leaf length and width, leaf area, number and length of roots, leaf color, as well as T. asperellum infection in the roots. The results showed that the carrier media formulation had no significant effect on all observed parameters. A dose of 2.5 g/plant of Trichoderma asperellum gave the best results in increasing plant height increment, number of leaves, and leaf length. The interaction between carrier media types and doses showed a similar response to seedling growth. Root infection by T. asperellum was observed through vesicle formation in root tissues, indicating a symbiotic relationship between T. asperellum and P. cornu-cervi in assisting nutrient absorption.
