ABSTRACT
APPLICATION OF MYCORRHIZAL FUNGI AND NANO-SILICA FERTILIZER ON THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF PURPLE GLUTINOUS CORN Alfi Zuhrotul Wafiya alfi.zuhrotul.wafiya@students.untidar.ac.id Purple glutinous corn is an agricultural commodity with high demand. However, domestic production is still relatively low. Efforts to improve yield can be carried out through the application of mycorrhizal fungi and nano-silica fertilizer. However, research on purple glutinous corn has never been reported. This study aimed to investigate the effects of mycorrhizal fungi and nano-silica fertilizer application on the growth and yield of purple glutinous corn (Jantan F1 variety). The research was conducted from April to June 2025 on alluvial soil in Magelang Regency, at an altitude of 208 meters amsl. The experiment was arranged in an RCBD (3x4) with two factors and three replications as blocks. The first factor is application of mycorrhizal fungi (control, Acaulospora sp., and Acaulospora sp. + Glomus sp.). The second factor is concentration of nano-silica fertilizer (0; 1.5; 3 and 4.5 ml/l). Data were analyzed using ANOVA, followed by LSD and orthogonal polynomial tests for significantly affected parameters. Results show that the application of mycorrhizal fungi (Acaulospora sp.+ Glomus sp.) affect the growth and yield parameters, except for corn weight and 100-seed weight. While, nanosilica fertilizer significantly affected all observed parameters, except for cron weight and cron length. Even so, no interaction was found between the two treatment factors. It is presumed that the mycorrhizal fungi formed associations with the corn root and optimizing nutrient absorption. Meanwhile, nano-silica fertilizer likely played a role in enhancing photosynthesis and strengthening plant tissues. In general, the application of mycorrhizal and nano-silica can increase the growth and yield of purple corn with separate responses.
