ABSTRACT
THE ROLE OF BAMBOO ROOT PGPR BIOLOGICAL FERTILIZER AND RICE STRAW MULCH CONCENTRATION ON THE GROWTH OF BIRD’S CHILI PLANTS (Capsicum frutescens L) Muhammad Mughni Utomo Email : mughni.utomo25@gmail.com The development and improvement of chili pepper production can be achived by using biofertilizers such of bamboo root PGPR and by adding organic materials to the soil in the form of rice straw mulch. This study aims to determine the role of bamboo root PGPR and rice straw mulch in the growth of bird’s eye chili plants. The research was conducted from January to April 2025 in Kembangan, Sumberrejo, Magelang Regency, Central Java. The study employed a Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD) with a factorial experiment (4x2). The first factor was the concentration of bamboo root PGPR with the following levels: 0; 7.5; 15; and 22.5 mL/Liter. The second factor was the use of rice straw mulch with two levels: without rice straw mulch and with rice straw mulch. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed that the application of bamboo root PGPR had no significant effect on the growth of bird’s eye chili plants. However, the use of rice straw mulch resulted in higher values for above-ground fresh weight, above-ground dry weight, root fresh weight, and root dry weight. No interaction was found between the application of bamboo root PGPR and rice straw mulch.
