SKRIPSI THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE FOUR CORNERS STRATEGY USING POSTERS IN LEARNING NARRATIVE TEXT WRITING SKILLS FOR THE EIGHTH GRADERS
In English, writing is one of the most important language skills. It remains a
challenge for many students in junior high school. Students often struggle to
develop ideas, organize their writing, and use vocabulary and grammar
appropriately. Therefore, innovative learning strategies and engaging media are
needed to help students improve their writing skills. One such strategy is the four
corners strategy using posters.
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the four Corners strategy using
posters in narrative writing text and determine whether there is a significant
difference in students’ writing skills in the narrative text between students who are
taught with the four corners strategy using posters and those who are taught with
the grouping work strategy using posters for eighth graders at MTsN 1 Kota
Magelang.
The research method employed was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test
and post-test for the experimental and control groups. The sample consisted of 44
students, divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental
group was taught with the Four Corners strategy, while the control group received
instruction through the group work strategy. Both groups utilized posters as learning
media. The data were collected through writing tests (pre-test and post-test) and
analyzed with normality tests, homogeneity tests, N-Gain tests, and independent
sample t-tests.
