SKRIPSI THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SPINNING WHEEL TO IMPROVE THE FIFTH GRADERS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY AND LEARNING MOTIVATION AT SD NEGERI TIDAR 3 MAGELANG
In the current educational era, mastering English vocabulary is one of the important skills for elementary school students, as it forms the foundation for reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The selection of learning media becomes one of the important aspects. The spinning wheel learning media integrates interactive and engaging activities. In addition, the spinning wheel media allows students to learn vocabulary through games and active participation. This research aims to find out how the implementation of the Spinning Wheel media can improve the mastery of English vocabulary among students and to investigate how the Spinning Wheel media can enhance the learning motivation of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Tidar 3 Magelang. In this study, the research uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design. In its implementation, the researcher divides it into three cycles, namely Pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. The subjects of this research are 28 fifth-grade students from SD Negeri Tidar 3 Magelang. To collect data, the researcher uses multiple-choice tests, classroom observations, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Furthermore, the data obtained is analyzed descriptively and quantitatively to see the development from pre-cycle to Cycle II. Based on the research results, the data shows a significant improvement in students' vocabulary mastery with an average vocabulary score increasing from 56.7 (Pre-Cycle, Poor Category) to 66.7 (Cycle I, Fair Category), and reaching 77 (Cycle II, Good Category). Additionally, the results also showed an enlargement in students' learning motivation, evidenced by the average questionnaire score rising from 3.39 (Pre-Cycle, Medium) to 3.70 (Cycle I, High), and 3.86 (Cycle II, High). Observations and interviews showed that students became more enthusiastic, confident, and active in learning vocabulary using the Spinning Wheel media. Based on these findings, the use of the spinning wheel media was proven to be effective in increasing vocabulary mastery and learning motivation among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Tidar 3 Magelang
