SKRIPSI USING TWO STAY TWO STRAY TECHNIQUE TO IMPROVE STUDENTS READING SKILL OF THE 10TH GRADE AT MA MA’ARIF GRABAG
Along the development in educational researches, multiple teaching and learning strategies were applied and also developed properly to respond issues on student difficulties based on the condition in the classroom. Different strategies would also have different impact on students motivation and also learning achievement based on the effectiveness of the strategy that was applied by the educators. The objective of this study is to find out whether the use Two Stay Two Stray strategy enhance students’ learning motivation at MA Ma’arif Grabag and also to discover whether the use Two Stay Two Stray strategy in learning enhance students’ reading skill at MA Ma’arif Grabag. This research used a Classroom Action Research approach. The methods used to gather data included observations and tests. Both qualitative and quantitative data were obtained during the study. Qualitative data were analyzed descriptively to capture the learning process, while quantitative data were utilized to evaluate students' academic performance. The researcher then computed the average scores from both the Cycle I and Cycle II tests. The implementation of the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) Technique led to a significant increase in students' motivation during the learning process. The average motivation score rose from 58% (Low category) in Cycle I to 76% (Medium category) in Cycle II. Students’ reading comprehension skills improved substantially after the application of the TSTS Technique. The average test score increased from 48.8 (Low category) in Cycle I to 67.9 (Fair category) in Cycle II. Additionally, the number of students meeting the Minimum Mastery Criterion (MMC) increased from 21% to 71%, with a noticeable reduction in the number of students in the Poor and Very Poor categories. This demonstrates the effectiveness of the TSTS technique in enhancing students' reading achievement
