SKRIPSI PENGARUH KEMAMPUAN MEMAHAMI KALIMAT-KALIMAT PERTANYAAN TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN MENYIMAK BAHASA INGGRIS SISWA KELAS 3 SLTP NEGERI 1 SAWANGAN TAHUN PELAJARAN 1999/2000
The purpose of conducting this researh is to prove that there is a significant influence of the ability to interpret questions to the English listening skill of the third year students of SLTPN 1 Sawangan in the school year of 1999/2000 and that there is a significant support given by the ability to interpret questions to the English listening skill of the third year students of SLTPN I Sawangan in the school year of 1999 or 2000. Discriminatory treatment to the English listening skill is still of average frequency in occurance during the teaching-learning process in junior high school. The domination of a certain instructional material is distinctly reflected in the text book used by the students of junior high school The wide range of the topics presented in the text book which accentuates the vocabularies and the themes of the reading materials has put its confirmation that the English listening skill has arbitrarily been subordinated. There is no question about this. The students' English listening skill has not reached the satisfactory extent. Besides that the language component 'structure' is not regarded as the substantial pillar, this has degenerated merely into 'supporting agent' Thus, questions which belong to the stucture are a little out of the students' attention The closeness of the relationship between the questions and the English listening skill is beyond question as the common test items for the English listening skill are in the forms of questions posed after a certain oral text is presented. To find out whether there is a significant influence of the ability to interpret questions to the students' English listening skill and to know how much contribution will be given by the ability to interpret questions to the students' English listening skill, it is regarded as absolutely necessary to conduct a research for the researcher. At the preliminary stage before the research was put in to execution, he put forward two hypotheses
1 There is a significant correlation between the ability to interpret questions to the English listening skill of the third year students of SLTPN 1 Sawangan in the school year of 1999/2000.
2. There is a significant support given by the ability to interpret questions to the English listening skill of the third year students of SLTPN 1 Sawangan in the school year of 1999/2000. This reseach was then conducted in SLTPN | Sawangan. The population and the samples of this reseach were the third year students. 50 out of 239 students were taken as the samples of this research. Out of many techniques, the reseacher decided to apply 'the random sampling technique'. To obtain the data, two sets of oral tests.
