SKRIPSI PENGARUH MENGIKUTI PENATARAN PKG / SPKG BAGI GURU TERHADAP PRESTASI BELAJAR BAHASA INGGRIS SISWA SMP DI KABUPATEN TEMANGGUNG

The PKG/SPKG is an upgrading programme for teachers to improve their teaching-learning process. It helps the Indonesian teachers of Junior High School and Senior High Schoolto develop the materials and techniques. It uses student centered learning process the classroom. PKG/SPKG helps the teachers to change teacher-student centered to student-student centered learning.
The objectives of the PKG/SPKG Approach are to improve students communicative competence in all language skills and in particular to improve the students skills of effective reading, to motivate the student to learn English, to help the student to get self confidence to comunicate in English, and so on. Based on the statement above the writter hold a research.
This research is aimed at seeing the difference between the student Achievements taught by the teachers before and after they follow PKG/SPKG upgrading to the Junior High School students' English in Kabupaten Temanggung.
According to the writer, the result of teaching English using the two Approaches wiil be different. She has put forward a hypothesis as follows:
“There is a different result between the teaching of English before and after the teachers follow PKG/SPKG upgrading.”
The purpose of the research is to prove whether the results of both teaching processes are different mean of the student achievements between before and after the teachers follow PKG/SPKG upgrading in teaching English.
The research involved twenty English teachers of Junior High Schools in Kabupaten Temanggung who have already follow PKG/SPKG upgrading as samples.
From the twenty teachers above, she takes the data of the students achievements before and after the teachers follow PKG/SPKG upgrading. Then the means are compared.
She uses to “Random Sampling” technique with a lottery to decide the samples. To collect the data, she uses the docanent and give questionaire to the teachers. Then they were equlised. In analizing the data, she uses the T-Test by "Simple Randomized Design".
Based on the statistical calculations, the results of to is more or less 3,296. Then, it is consulted to T-Tabel, that d.f equals (na plus nb minus 2) equals (20 plus 20 minus 2) equals 38, on the level of significance 5 percent is greater or equals than 2,024. In fact the value of to is more than tt ; it is more or less 3,296 greater than 2,024. The mean of the students' achievement ments before the teachers follow PKG/SPKG upgrading is 5,88; while the mean of the students achievements the teachers follow PKG/SPKG upgrading is 6,57. The mean of the students achievements after the teachers follow PKG/SPKG upgrading is more than the mean of the achievements before the teachere follow FKG/SPKG upgrading.
Based on the results, she has drown conclution that the result of the students English achievements that taught after the teachers follow PKG/SPKG upgrading is better than before the teachers follow PKG/SPKG upgrading. Thas, the hypothesis above is PROVED.
