SKRIPSI USING MODEL TEACHING STRATEGY TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ NARRATIVE TEXT WRITING SKILL FOR THE TENTH GRADERS OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING AT SMK N 1 WINDUSARI
This classroom action research aims to improve students’ ability to write narrative texts through the implementation of the Model Teaching Strategy. The research was conducted with tenth-grade students majoring in Mechanical Engineering at SMK N 1 Windusari. Before the implementation of the strategy, students experienced various difficulties in writing, including generating ideas, organizing sentences, and applying correct grammar. In addition, students tended to be passive during the learning process and lacked confidence in expressing their ideas in written form. The research was conducted through one pre-cycle and two cycles, with each cycle consisting of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The participants were 32 tenth-grade students. Data were collected through observation sheets, questionnaires, documentation, and writing tests. The results of the pre-cycle showed that students’ writing skills and learning motivation were still low, with an average percentage of 54.16%. After the implementation of the Model Teaching Strategy in Cycle I, students’ performance improved to 77.77%. Although some students still faced difficulties in sentence construction and paragraph development, their participation and motivation increased. In Cycle II, after refining the teaching process, students’ average score further improved to 82.63%, accompanied by a significant increase in learning motivation based on observation and questionnaire results
