SKRIPSI THE USE OF FABULA APPLICATION TO INCREASE THE FANTASY STORY TEXT WRITING SKILL OF THE ELEVENTH GRADERS OF MAN KOTA MAGELANG
thoughts in a written form. One of the examples of writing activity is writing a fantasy story, which falls under the narrative text types. This activity was held at MAN Kota Magelang, with the eleventh graders of the Bahasa class as the subjects. In this activity, students must write fantasy stories by outlining with the help of the Fabula Application. However, many students seemed to have difficulties in writing due to a lack of learning motivation and poor writing skill. In response to the previously mentioned issue, this study aims to address two objectives: First, to find out whether the use of the Fabula Application is increasing the eleventh graders’ learning motivation in writing fantasy story texts. Second, to find out whether the use of the Fabula Application as the teaching medium increases the students’ writing skill of the eleventh graders in writing fantasy story texts. This study used Arikunto (2008) Classroom Action Research model. This model consists of three stages, which are the Pre-Cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. Each cycle consists of four phases: plan, act, observe, and reflect. These stages were conducted in this study to provide effective answers to the objective of the study. The data was obtained through tests in writing tests and non-test as, such as observation, questionnaire, and documentation. After obtaining the data, the data was analyzed in qualitative and quantitative methods, as well as the data's trustworthiness. The findings showed significant improvement in both motivation and writing outcomes across the cycles. Improvements from observations can be seen from the Pre-Cycle results with a score of 53%, Cycle I with a score of 62%, and Cycle II with a score of 72%. Meanwhile, in the questionnaire, student motivation increased in Cycle I with a score of 2.96 and in Cycle II to 3.22. Furthermore, the students’ writing performance also increased, with the mean score rising from 62.67 in the Pre-Cycle to 73.41 in Cycle I, and reaching 78.17 in Cycle II, surpassing the school’s Minimum Completeness Standard. Students reported that the Fabula Application helped them generate ideas, structure plots, and visualize story elements more clearly, resulting in more coherent and creative narratives. These results suggest that the Fabula Application helps students increase their learning motivation and writing skill based on fantasy story texts.
