As the second advisor Keywords: Narrative text, Inking Your Thinking Strategy, Shared Reading Strategy, Reading Comprehension. Reading is a dynamic skill that requires ongoing guessing, predicting, verifying, and self-questioning. It is designed to get some information and comprehension in written or printed form. The eighth graders of SMPN 1 Selopampang have difficulties comprehending the text. For this reason, the writer was curious to conduct this study. The first objective of this study is to find out the significant difference in students’ reading comprehension between those who are taught using the Inking Your Thinking strategy and those who are taught using Shared Reading Strategy. The second is to find out the significance between the Inking Your Thinking strategy and Shared Reading strategy in teaching English narrative text in reading comprehension. This is an experimental study. The subject of the study is VIII A as the control group and VIII B as the experiment group, which consists of 29 students in each group. The pre-test was given before the treatment, then the writer applied the Inking Your Thinking strategy in the experiment group and the Shared Reading strategy in the control group. After implementing those strategies in teaching reading narrative text, the students were given a post-test. In analyzing the data, the writer used paired sample t-test and an independent test. The result showed that the student’s reading comprehension after being taught using the Inking Your Thinking Strategy and Shared Reading Strategy the students’ score was improved. The paired sample t-test obtained a significant value of 0,000 < 0,05. It means that the Inking Your Thinking strategy was more effective than Shared Reading Strategy. Based on the result, there is a significant difference in teaching reading comprehension using the Inking Your Thinking Strategy and the Shared Reading strategy. Then, the more effective of those two strategies is the Inking Your Thinking Strategy.
