SKRIPSI THE USE OF GUIDED WRITING STRATEGY WITH PADLET TO IMPROVE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS’ NARRATIVE TEXT WRITING SKILL IN COMPOSING FABLES
Writing narrative text is often challenging for EFL learners, frequently leading to difficulties in organizing ideas, structuring sentences, and maintaining learning motivation. To overcome these challenges, innovative teaching strategies integrated with interactive digital tools are highly needed. Therefore, the main objectives of this research were to evaluate whether the implementation of the Guided Writing strategy integrated with Padlet could improve students' learning motivation and to analyze the improvement of students' narrative text writing skills, specifically in composing fables. This study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design which was conducted in two distinct cycles: Cycle I and Cycle II. The research took place at SMA Negeri 1 Mertoyudan. The subjects of the study were 36 tenth-grade students from class XA. To gather comprehensive data, the writer utilized both quantitative and qualitative instruments. The quantitative data were collected through writing tests to measure the students' skill improvement, while the qualitative data were obtained through observation checklists and questionnaires to evaluate the students' learning motivation during the teaching and learning process. The findings of this research revealed a significant and consistent improvement in both the students' learning motivation and their writing performance. Based on the qualitative data, the students' motivation as measured by the observation scores increased from 50.83% in the Pre-Cycle to 63.89% in Cycle I, and reached 75.28% in Cycle II. Similarly, the questionnaire results showed a positive upward trend, rising from 70.83% in the Pre-Cycle to 82.22% in Cycle I, and concluding at 85.28% in Cycle II. Furthermore, the quantitative data demonstrated that the students' average writing score improved from 65.14 in the Pre-Cycle to 72.88 in Cycle I, and ultimately achieved 80.39 in Cycle II, which successfully fulfilled the predetermined performance indicator. In conclusion, the integration of the Guided Writing Strategy with the Padlet platform proved to be a highly effective approach. It not only facilitated the students in structuring and developing their ideas collaboratively but also significantly boosted their motivation and enthusiasm for learning English. Thus, this strategy is highly recommended for English teachers to enhance students' narrative writing skills.
