Writing is an important language skill that students must master, as it involves expressing ideas using proper grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure. However, eighth-grade students in Class VIII B at SMPIT Ihsanul Fikri in kota Magelang face difficulties in writing recount texts. They exhibit low motivation, remain passive during the learning process, and struggle with vocabulary, grammar, and organizing their ideas, resulting in poor writing performance. This study aims to improve students’ motivation to learn and their skills in writing recount texts through the application of the Simultaneous RoundTable Technique supported by Padlet as a digital collaborative tool. This study also aims to increase students’ engagement and active participation during the teaching-learning process. This study used Classroom Action Research (CAR), it was conducted in Cycle I and Cycle II. Each cycle consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were eighth-grade students at SMPIT Ihsanul Fikri in kota Magelang. Data were collected through writing tests, observation, questionnaires, and interviews. Quantitative data obtained from students’ writing test scores were analyzed by calculating the average score for each cycle and comparing the results across cycles to determine improvements in students’ writing skills. Qualitative data obtained from observation sheets, questionnaires, and interviews were analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques consisting of three stages: data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The research results show that students’ motivation to learn and their recount writing skill improved significantly. In terms of motivation, the observation results increased from 45.53% in the pre-cycle to 59.72% in Cycle I and reached 84.4% in Cycle II. Questionnaire results also increased from 24.08% in the pre-cycle to 60.24% in Cycle I and reached 92.2% in Cycle II. In terms of writing skill, the average score improved from 53.6 in the pre-cycle to 64 in Cycle I and reached 75.19 in Cycle II. Additionally, students became more active, confident, and motivated during the learning process. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the Simultaneous RoundTable Technique supported by Padlet is effective in improving students’ recount writing skill as well as enhancing their motivation and learning participation.
