SKRIPSI THE IMPLEMENTATION OF INTRA-ACT STRATEGY USING FLIPCARDS TO INCREASE THE EIGHTH GRADERS’ NARRATIVE TEXT READING COMPREHENSION OF SMP NEGERI 1 TEMPURAN

Reading comprehension is an essential language skill that enables students to understand and interpret written texts. However, many students had difficulties in comprehending narrative texts due to limited vocabulary, low motivation, and passive participation during the learning process. This study aimed to improve students’ reading comprehension of narrative texts through the implementation of the Intra-Act Strategy using Flipcards, as well as to enhance their motivation and classroom participation. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted in two cycles: Cycle I and Cycle II. The participants were students in Class 8C at SMP Negeri 1 Tempuran during the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through reading comprehension tests, observation sheets, questionnaires, and documentation. The findings showed that the students’ reading comprehension improved significantly. The mean score increased from 63.30 in the pre-cycle to 74.20 in Cycle I and reached 83.23 in Cycle II. Furthermore, 81.25% of the students met the Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM). The students also became more active, confident, and motivated during the learning process as they participated in discussions and collaborative activities using Flipcards. The results indicate that the implementation of the Intra-Act Strategy using Flipcards improved students’ reading comprehension of narrative texts while enhancing their motivation and classroom participation.
