skripsi THE EFFECTIVENESS OF EDUCATE READING APPLICATION AS A LEARNING MEDIUM TO IMPROVE READING COMPREHENSIONIN THE REPORT TEXT FOR TENTH GRADERS
Reading comprehension is an important skill for students to understand and interpret various types of texts, including report texts. This study aimed to determine the difference in reading comprehension skills between students who learned using eDucate Reading and those who learned using Wayground, as well as to examine the effectiveness of eDucate Reading in improving students’ reading comprehension. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test assessment involving tenth-grade students at SMA N 1 Candimulyo in the 2025/2026 academic year. The samples were selected through purposive sampling, with class X-1 as the control group and class X-6 as the experimental group. The data were collected through reading comprehension tests and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test and effect size analysis. The results showed that students in the experimental group achieved higher reading comprehension scores than those in the control group. The Mann-Whitney test revealed a significant difference between the two groups (Sig.). (2-tailed) value of 0.004 < 0.05, and the effect size value of 0.60 indicated a moderate level of effectiveness. These findings suggest that eDucate Reading is an effective learning medium because its interactive and guided features provide engaging learning experiences that support students’ understanding of report texts. The use of eDucate Reading is recommended as an alternative digital learning medium to help teachers improve students’ reading comprehension skills and integrate technology into English learning activities.
