SKRIPSI THE IMPLEMENTATION OF IMMEDIATE TEACHER’S FEEDBACK TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION TEXT WRITING SKILL OF THE ELEVENTH GRADERS
Writing is one of the essential skills in English learning because it allows
students to express their ideas, thoughts, and opinions in a structured and coherent
way. However, many students still face difficulties in writing, particularly in
constructing analytical exposition texts, due to their limited vocabulary, grammar
mastery, and ability to organize ideas effectively. Therefore, teachers’ feedback
plays an important role in improving students’ writing quality, especially when it is
provided immediately after the writing activity.
This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of Immediate Teacher
Feedback in improving students’ analytical exposition writing skills of the eleventh
graders at SMAS Islam Sudirman. It also aims to find out whether there is a
significant difference between students who were taught using Immediate Teacher
Feedback and those who were taught using Delayed Teacher Feedback.
This research applied a quasi-experimental design with two groups: the
experimental group, which received Immediate Teacher Feedback, and the control
group, which received Delayed Teacher Feedback. The participants were 36
students of the eleventh grade. The data were collected through pre-tests and post
tests and analyzed using statistical formulas, including the N-Gain test and
Independent Sample t-test, to measure the effectiveness and significance of the
treatment.
The results of the study show that Immediate Teacher Feedback was more
effective in improving students’ writing skills compared to Delayed Feedback. The
N-Gain result indicated that the experimental group achieved a moderate level of
effectiveness (68.64%), while the control group was less effective (45.85%).
Moreover, the Independent Sample t-test result revealed a significant difference
between both groups (Sig. < 0.001 < 0.05). Therefore, the null hypothesis (H₀) was
rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) was accepted. It can be concluded that
Immediate Teacher Feedback significantly enhances students’ analytical exposition
writing skills and should be implemented as an effective strategy in English writing
instruction.
