SKRIPSI THE EFFECTIVENESS OF LISTENING TEAMS STRATEGY IN ENHANCING TENTH GRADERS’ LISTENING COMPREHENSION OF REPORT TEXTS AT MAN 1 MAGELANG
This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the Listening Teams strategy in
enhancing tenth graders' listening comprehension of report texts. A quasi
experimental design was employed, involving 58 tenth graders: 29 in the
experimental class and 29 in the control class. The experimental class was taught
using the Listening Teams strategy, while the control class was taught using the
Pair Work strategy. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test listening
comprehension tests and analyzed using descriptive statistics, Independent Samples
t-Test, and N-Gain analysis.
The findings revealed that the significance value of the Independent
Samples t-Test was 0.392, which was higher than 0.05. This indicates that there was
no statistically significant difference between the experimental and control classes.
However, the experimental class obtained a higher post-test mean score (75.34)
than the control class (72.41). Furthermore, the mean N-Gain score of the
experimental class (0.182) was higher than that of the control class (0.056).
Although both were categorized as low, the Listening Teams strategy contributed
positively to students' listening comprehension of report texts. However, the
improvement was not statistically significant, indicating that the strategy was not
significantly more effective than the Pair Work strategy in this study.
