SKRIPSI USING E-LEARNING JOURNAL STRATEGY WITH PADLET TO INCREASE THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS’ RECOUNT TEXT WRITING SKILL AT SMP NEGERI 12 MAGELANG
Writing is an essential language skill that students need to master, yet many still
face difficulties with recount texts. This study aimed to improve students’ recount
text writing skills by implementing the E-learning Journal Strategy with Padlet at
SMP Negeri 12 Magelang.
This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the model
proposed by Kemmis and McTaggart (1988), which consisted of two cycles. The
participants of this study were 32 eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 12
Magelang. The data were collected through writing tests, observation sheets, and
questionnaires.
The findings showed that the implementation of the E-learning Journal Strategy
with Padlet successfully improved students’ writing skills and learning motivation.
The findings showed that the student’s mean score on the writing test improved
gradually, from 61.52 in the pre-cycle to 71.38 in Cycle I and 82.48 in Cycle II. In
addition, the observation sheets and questionnaire results indicated that students
became more active, engaged, and motivated during the learning process.
Therefore, it can be concluded that the E-learning Journal Strategy with Padlet is
an effective strategy for improving students’ recount text writing skills and learning
motivation. It is recommended that English teachers consider implementing this
strategy to create a more interactive and meaningful writing learning environment.
